In 1 John 5:4 it says, “For whosoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” When you accepted the Lord Jesus Christ, you were born again to be an over comer. What does it take to overcome? 1 John 5:4 says that our faith is what gets us the victory. Our faith produces victory in this world.
The prayer of faith brings victory. In Matthew 21:22 it says, “And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.” Notice that it says, “all things.” We are able to overcome the impossible by the prayer of faith. Many Christians lack victory because they fail to apply Matthew 21:22. They pray, but they don’t have a persuaded heart that is full of faith. You need to be aware that when your heart is not filled with the Word, the force of faith is not there; so when you have a low Word level, you will also have a low faith level.
Your praying without faith will not produce victory. When you pray you must have a heart that is fully persuaded and believes what the Bible – God’s will – says about your situation. The prayer of faith must come first. Prayer plus faith brings victory. James 2:26 says, “. . . So faith without works is dead.” James 5:15 says, “The prayer of faith shall save the sick.” The voice of faith-filled words will cause our healing to come into manifestation. When we pray, we must follow what the Apostle Paul says in 2 Timothy 1:13 (AMP), “Hold fast and follow the pattern of wholesome and sound teaching which you have heard from me, in the faith and love . . .” Sound Biblical praying will produce solid, wholesome results every time.
The blessing of God can be claimed only where the will of God is known, trusted and acted upon.
Many untaught Christians miss the victory in their lives because they do not believe that they receive what they are praying about. Mark 11:24 (the Amplified Bible) says, “. . . whatever you ask for in prayer, believe (trust and be confident) that it is granted to you, and you will (get it).” The word ‘believing’ is an action word. Thus, believing and acting on the Word will cause the results to materialize.
Many people think that if they believe something strongly enough in their heart – just quietly, to them self – it will come to pass. That’s only half of it. Mark 11:23-24 talks about both believing and saying. You’ve got to release your faith by believing it in your heart and saying it with your mouth. Let’s put it another way: the way you activate your faith is by believing in your heart what God’s Word says, AND by saying it with your mouth. Saying what? Speaking out believing that what you say is true because you have prayed in line with the written Word.
The promises of God’s Word will bring us faith and victory every time if we will not doubt when we pray. Ephesians 3:12 says, “In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.” The Century Translation says, “In him we have this fearless confidence and boldness of access through our faith in Him.” The Laubach Translation says it this way, “Now we who have faith in Christ dare to go to God with perfect confidence.” Thus, because of Christ (The Anointed One), we have boldness to ask with confidence of the Father in His (Jesus) name anything the Word says we can have (John 16:23-24). What an amazing prayer promise.
Yet because many people are religiously brain-washed instead of New Testament taught, they water down the promises of God. They tack on something like this when they pray, “Oh God, if it be Thy will?” See, Jesus stated God’s will in John 16:23-24. “…Verily, verily, I say unto you, whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in My Name, He will give it you. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in My Name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.”
In order to be successful in your prayer life, God’s Word must be foremost.
Just remember to ask God according to His Word. I John 5:14 says, “And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask any thing according to His will [His Word is His will], He heareth us. And if we know that He hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desire of Him.”
In John 15:4, Jesus says, “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine.” Abide in Christ. Abide in the Word. Ask according to the Word. When you do, you’ll bear much fruit! Fruit is a manifestation of the harvest!
God’s Word is His voice and His will to us. Before anyone can have steadfast faith for what they are asking God for, they must be rid of all uncertainty concerning God’s will in the matter. Before attempting to exercise faith in any matters, read scriptures that promise the answer you need. In vocalizing your faith in prayer, you need to pray the promises of God that guarantee what you are asking Him for. In order to be successful in your prayer life, God’s Word must be foremost. As you feed upon God’s Word, in the time of need you are prepared. You can use the appropriate Scriptures that cover what you are asking for.
The greatest barrier to the faith of many seeking God in our day is the uncertainty in their minds as to if what they are asking for is within the will of God (and if it applies to them). Much of modern theology prevents people from knowing what the Bible clearly teaches. When people go to God in prayer, the devil gets them to doubt God and robs them of what they want, because they do not know what the Scriptures plainly teach about the matter.
His Word plainly shows us His will. When praying for things that are expressly promised in the Word, we can have complete confidence that God will give us what we ask for. On the other hand, if the scriptures don’t promise what we may be seeking, we don’t have any business praying for it. We should not be asking for anything that the Word of God says we shouldn’t have.
It is impossible to boldly claim by faith a blessing which we are not sure God offers; but once we see His promises to us in His Word we should boldly claim them by faith. The blessing of God can be claimed only where the will of God is known, trusted and acted upon. Remember that you must claim the promises for yourself. People with Bible faith get Bible results. It is impossible to properly honor God’s Word and not get victory.
I am believing the Lord that you are walking into all that He has provided for you. This is a time of positioning and taking hold of the Word and God’s vision for your life. Press through and into Him, into all that He has had laid up for you since the foundations of the world.
May the abundance of God’s goodness – His divine provision for you spirit, soul and body – manifest abundantly in your life as you walk in the light of the Word.
