When you were born again, you were born again of the Spirit. You are a spirit being. You have the Holy Spirit on the inside of you. The Greater One is living in your inward being. In times of difficulty you can get in touch with that part of you that’s born of God. Romans 8:14 says, “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”
Once you start learning to stay “tuned” to the Holy Spirit in prayer, you will find it is not just the Holy Spirit helping you pray about matters that concern you, but you will learn that the Holy Spirit helps you pray about matters that concern Him. There are realms of the Spirit where you pray out God’s plans and purposes for your life, or for others, in the Holy Ghost. I Corinthians 2: 9-10 says, “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit:”
There are realms of the Spirit where you pray out God’s plans and purposes for your life, or for others, in the Holy Ghost.
Too many times when we are in trouble, we sit around waiting for someone else to get us stirred up enough to pray and take hold of God’s Word. We can’t afford to sit around in times of distress, sickness, or infirmity and do nothing. In troubled times in your life things may look like they are crumbling in chaos, but remember you do not need to be troubled. Armed with God’s promises, the Holy Spirit, and prayer, God has prepared things for us that human eyes have not seen nor man’s ears have heard. God has given us the advantage to conquer the enemy by His strategies and cast off the enemies’ attacks, and overcome any obstacle by His supernatural strength by walking out His plans and purposes for our lives though prayer.
We are not just spectators – but participators with God. The apostle Paul says in 1 Corinthians 1:9 that “God is faithful (reliable, trustworthy, and therefore ever true to His promise, and He can be depended on); by Him you were called into companionship and participation with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord” (The Amplified Bible). We are called to grow up and mature. We are called to become participators and companions with God to fulfill His plans and purposes. Romans 8:26-27 says, “26 So too the [Holy] Spirit comes to our aid and bears us up in our weakness; for we do not know what prayer to offer nor how to offer it worthily as we ought, but the Spirit Himself goes to meet our supplication and pleads in our behalf with unspeakable yearnings and groanings too deep for utterance. 27 And He who searches the hearts of men knows what is in the mind of the [Holy] Spirit [what His intent is], because the Spirit intercedes and pleads [before God] in behalf of the saints according to and in harmony with God’s will” (The Amplified Bible).
We have to get in that place of prayer and let the Holy Spirit take hold together with us against the weaknesses or obstacles we are dealing with.
See, God can be depended on. He is faithful, reliable and trustworthy. His Spirit within us will help us in times of weakness. When we don’t know how to pray as we should, He will under-gird us with unspeakable yearnings and groaning too deep for utterance. The Holy Spirit will go before God on our behalf and pray for us according to and in harmony with God’s will for us. We have to get in that place of prayer and let the Holy Spirit take hold together with us against the weaknesses or obstacles we are dealing with.
Will you join the ranks of those who are desperate for an intimate relationship with God – the Lover of our souls – who but Him can satisfy and fulfill us? My intention is not just to present these truths about God’s secret place; I want the Holy Spirit to take you there. I want you to be focused, passionate and practical about intimacy with the Father and the deep dimensions of the Spirit. Take the time to seek His face. We’ve puttered about praying from our limited earthly perspective, totally unaware that if we would but release our faith, the Spirit of grace and supplication within us would open to us new realms of God.
You can work with Him through prayer and bring God’s will to pass in the earth.
If you will learn to yield to Him, the Holy Spirit will lead you to pray things that will absolutely astonish you. Just imagine! Every answer you’ll ever need to know, the whole of God’s divine counsel, all His plans for the future – everything! – is inside you right now.
The Holy Spirit desires to reveal those deep and bottomless things of God to you. Why? So you can work with Him through prayer and bring God’s will to pass in the earth. As you partner with us in prayer, there will be a release of God’s power to change lives by the Word and the Spirit.
Back in 1983, I was holding a crusade in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. I was staying in a missionaries’ home where I was their guest. The basement of their home was fully furnished for guests. After the crusade one night, I could not go to sleep but was moved on by Holy Spirit to pray in the Spirit. For several hours the prayer of intercession was upon me. My praying was fueled by the Word and fervent love coming up deep within me. It was God’s love causing me to weep and groan in the Spirit.
Around three in the morning I had an open vision. I was seeing in the natural realm and the spirit realm at the same time. I saw a globe of the world. I was looking head long at the African continent. The Lord showed me a map that was on fire in different parts of different countries in Africa. The flames would skip some nations and start burning in other nations. I saw all the way from Singapore, to India, and even European nations where God’s Spirit was going to be moving. God allowed me to see in part what was coming to many places of the world. I watched the flames of the Holy Spirit move in different nations, with multitudes of people standing in crusades. From that visitation I saw God bring to pass many of the details within in it and saw people’s ministries dramatically increase as they stepped into fulfilling the plans God had for them. It’s truly harvest time more than ever before! God wants to stretch us beyond what we see and think.
The Power of Perseverance
Do you feel God calling you into the secret place of prayer, where you learn to follow the unction of the Holy Spirit? The point is this: devote yourself to the secret place until your heart is overflowing with love and zeal for your Beloved. It is thrilling and rewarding to pray by the unction of the Holy Spirit and explore with Him the realms of God.
However, to get into another realm of God there is another element that must be added to prayer. It is the power of perseverance in prayer.
To persevere in prayer means to keep praying until you see that prayer fully answered, or until the burden lifts and you sense in your spirit the victory has been won.
It means you keep praying and refuse to give up until God’s will is done (Eph. 6:10-18). Your job in prayer is to hold God’s Word before Him and keep it there until that Word is manifested in the person or situation for which you are praying. Remember, you don’t have to do it by yourself. You have the Holy Spirit to help you. As your Advocate, the Holy Sprit will lead you to the scriptures you need. He’ll quicken them to your heart. He will help you bring forth your case with such eloquence (both in other tongues and with your understanding) that the devil won’t stand a chance against you. So keep on pressing through in prayer until the answer comes. Go for 100%! I am praying that you press in and not settle for anything less than God’s best. This is our time! It is harvest time!
